Mr Lamb, of New Zealand, in the course of an interview with reference to the missionary work in the New Hebrides, states that one thing needful in the group is the annexation by the British. Under the present restriction the wonder, he Hayn, is that Britishers are ever able to get a footing in the group. So previously do the restrictions operate in connection with obtaining lobour that the English, he adds, are almost ready to support French annexation. Referring to labour recruiting, the reverend gentleman strongly urges the establishment of stringent quarantine regulations to pre vent the Pacific Islands becoming dcci mated by diseases introduced from outside.
