The Antartic and the Hinemoa.

THE NORWEGIAN VESSEL CLEARS OUT. [pee pbkss association.] Bluff, May 19. The meeting with the Autartic took place on Tuesday, Ist May, at Port Ross, Euderby Island. The Hiuemoa, on arrival at Port Ross, found the Antartic anchored there. An official interview took place. Captain Fairchild went on board the Antartic for the purpose of placing Captain Kristenson in possession of all necessary information regarding the New Zealand law relating to the seal fisheries, and the existence of a " close season " at the islands, Auckland, Campbell, etc., was intimated by Captain Fairchild. This was evidently new to Captain Kristensnn, who nodded, and remarked, " But it expires in June. Captain Fairchild explained that it would not do so, as before that time the proclamation would be renewed for a further period. " But what would be the charge (royalty or penalty may have been intended) if I took seals ? " On this Captain Fairchild produced the Gazette notice, and copies of the Act relating to the Seal Fisheries. He pointed to the clauses relating to the illegal killing of seals or possession of sealskins, providing penalties of i.'500 for the first, and X'2o for each additional seal, imprisonment in default, with seizure and confiscation of the vessel. On Tuesday Bth, at daybreak the Antarctic got under weight and stood out of the harbour. The Hinemoa followed soon after. Outside the Heads the Antarctic was seen away to the south, steering apparently in the direction of the Macquaries.
