Railway Accident at Hastings.

(PER PBEBB ASSOCIATION). N ap May 18. Presumably owing to some points having been left unlocked, a frozen meat train from Waipukurau left the main line at Hastings before daylight this morning, and after traversing several side lines, came ii.to collision with some trucks laden with timber. One truck was smashed to pieces, and the cap of 'he engine was crushed in. The driver of the train was much shaken and bruised, having had a very narrow escape of his life, and the guard was also severely shaken.
