Severe Comments in Bankruptcy Gases.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.'* Wellington, May 17 At an adjourned meeting of the creditors of Henry Moss, Commission Agent, the statement of accountant showed debtor had spent £3735 in goods and office expenses, and had sold goods for £3764, Household expenses amounted to £587, and there was a debit balance of £558. Debtor said he bad never made out a balance-sheet since he had been trading. A tew years ago, in Wellington, he made an assignment, paying 17s 6d in the £, and 30 years ago in Ohristchurch he also made an assignment. The Official Assignee said the debtor had no doubt been buoyed up in carrying on by assistance received from relatives. The Assignee referred to the number of unsatisfactory cases which had occurred lately, and said he had not made up his mind, but it rested with him, as to whether a charge under the criminal clauses of the Act should be laid against debtor by the Crown Prosecutor. He confessed that he had some hesitation in selecting an old man like debtor for such a shocking example. When the matter came before the Bankruptcy Court, he should certainly lay the whole of the facts before the J udge, and he had no doubt that His Honor would place such conditions upon debtor that he would not be able to trade again. He did not think that Mr Moss possessed capabilities which would justify the Judge in letting him, as it were, loose again on the community. Bankrupt's coun-, sel disagreed with the Assignee, and prophesied the Judge would grant the discharge.
