The Fielding Star. THURSDAY, MAY 17, 1894. TELEPHONE TO MAKINO.

The residents in the Makino district have forwarded, through Mr J. H. Stevens, the Postmaster at Feilding, to the Postmaster General, a requisition praying that the post office at Makino be connected with Feilding by telephone. As the poles now in

position can be utilized for the wire, and the placing of the latter could be done at a comparatively trifling cost, no doubt the prayer of the requisitionists will be acceded to. We may state that since the establishment of the butter factory at Makino, and the consequent augmentation of business of all kinds there, the want of immediate communication with the larger centres has been considerably accentuated.
