Meeting of the Cheltenham Sports Committee.
A meeting of the Committee of the Cheltenham Sports was held last Saturday in the Cheltenham Hotel. There was a good attendance, Mr Bruce being in the chair. The Secretary on behalf of the Canvassing Committee, reported that they bad succeeded in collecting over £30 up to the present, which was considered very good, and with entrance fees, privileges and gate money there ought to be a fair surplus for the Public Hall fund. j Owing to the shortness of the day, it was decided to styike out the Tug-of-War, Officials Race, Hop Step and Jump, and putting the Weight. Mr H. S. Munro was appointed to act with Mr T. R. Taylor as judge of wrestling. Mr E. W. Prebble was appointed gate keeper. The concert committee reported that they had been successful in securing some of the best local talent to sing at the concert on Queen's Birthday evening. Fbe meeting decided to hold the concert in the Kiwitea Hall (as it is more suitable) instead of Mr Johnston's woolshei. The meetiDg then adjourned to j Wednesday 23rd inst , with the ufual vote of thanks to the Chairman.
