St Petersburg, May 10. j A vast Nihilist conspiracy has been discovered in St. Petersburg. Hundreds of arrests have been effected. New York. May 9. News from Central America states that the Government troops have inflicted three successive defeats on the rebels in San Salvador. In the engagements 400 were killed and 1500 wounded, most of them severely. Lord Rosebery, speaking at a meeting of the National Liberal Club, said the Government would persevere with their programme, even if they hud only t» tnajoiity of two.
