Police Court.

THIS DAY. (Before Messrs G. Ivirton and W. Carthew, J.P.s.) Frank Watts pleaded guilty to a charge of being drunk on the Hth iust., and was fined i'l, aud costs 2s. J. Woolfe v. C. A. Lovell ; claim, £1 ss. Mr Saudilands for ijlaintiff. No appearance of defendant. Tin's was a short service summons, and plaintiff's solicitor stated it was issued as it was feared defendant was about to leave the district. J. Woolfe deposed to the value of a lifting jack lent to defendant, but uot returned. $ C. Bray, Engineer, also gave evidence as to the value of the lifting jack. Judgment for £7 ss, costs of court 10s, J and solicitor's fee 15s 6d ; immediate distress to be issued as defendant was about to leave the town. j
