Bimetallism Conference.

The Lord Mayor presided at the bimetallic meeting during a portion of the day Cablegrams supporting the movement were received from the Austrian, Oerman, French, Dutch, and Belgian delegates. Messrs E. B. floare (the well known banker), Leonard Courtney and S. Mon tagu, Sir W H Houldswortb, R. L. Everett, E. F. Knox and H. Chaplin, M.P.'s, took part in the discussion, and supported ihe views expressed by Sir David Balfour and Mr Smith. The discussion dealt mainly with the condition of India. The speakers insisted that bimetallism should be made a test question with the candidates at the next geueral election, in order tbat the House of Commons may be coerced into action. Messrs Barclay and Chapman said ( that India was practically insolvent, and that her condition was entirely due to ( the fact that Britain was the sole country which stood in the way of international bi-metallism.
