The Feilding Star. Published Daily. FRIDAY, MAY 4, 1894. A POST OFFICE FOR FEILDING
\Ve liato for some years advocate-l the removal of the Post Office to a more central position in the town, but without success. We again take up the subject, for the reason that the first session of the new parliament is now drawing near, and efforts should be made without delay to get a sum placed on the estimates for the purpose. The necessity for the change has long beon patent to every business man in Feilding, and when the Premier, Mr Seddon, was interviewed on the subject a few months ago, he was inclined to view the contemplated change favorably, and to grant a site near the Court House on a portion of the Bail way Reserve, with the consent of the Railway Commissioners. Since that time there have been many important changes in the relative positions of the Cabinet and the Commissioners, and we think that if the Mayor, Mr Carthew, were to be sent to Wellington as a deputation to wait on the Premier and urge the requirements of the Borough in this connection, he would succeed in securing a site and obtaining a grant. It would have to be borne in mind that the postal and telegraph authorities have been the only real obstructionists in the past, but their objections are of very little consequence. It is the convenience of the public who contribute the revenue that deserves the first consideration. No time should be lost, and we feel assured that in a matter which indirectly affects a large portion of his electorate, the hearty cooperation of Mr Pirani, M.H.R , could, be obtained.
