Torrens, well-known for his efforts in connection with the Poor Laws, was run over by a cab, and died from the effects of the injuries he received. Obituary — Mr Greville, the wellknown comedian. Steadman and Co.'s malt houses at South Kensington were destroyed by fire last night. The damage is estimated at £25,000. The insurances amount to i' 13,000. The viands will consist chiefly of colonial produce. He also suggests that a week's exhibition ol colonial produce should be given annually at the Imperial Institute, the opening ceremony to be performed by one of the members of the Royal Family. Vienna. April 28. A beggar stabbed one of the Rottisi childs in the face to-day. The offender was arrested. Hague, April 28. The Dutch Ministry has resigned. Buenos Aybes, April 28. The Brazilians in custody on board the Portuguese warships, including Admiral de Gama, have effected their escape. The latter, and many others, made their way to Monte Video, and have rej6ined the Rio Grande rebels. A Portuguese warship forcibly took 30 Brazilian refugees from an Argentine vessel, and Argentina demands redress.
