A SENSATIONAL SUICIDE.
OUTCOME OF THE RECENT MARRIAGE IN WELLINGTON. THE BRIDE LEAVES HER HISBAND. SUICIDE OF THE BRIDEGROOM. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This Day. The police have received information that Herbert Edmonds, school master, as Piranga, Lower Wairarapa, shot himself at 7 a.m. No reason is assigned. Later. The death of Edmouds is the painful end of a romance which began in St. Peter's Church a few days ago. Then, as was telegraphed, his bride refused at the altar to marry him, but was persuaded to become his wife next morning They left for Piranga, about 10 miles from Martinborough. A passenger who was in the train says the girl refused to speak to her husband all the way, and before the journey's end was reached she gave him the slip and disappeared. It is said she is now in Melbourne. Edmonds was only 27, aud of a bright and cheery disposition, not at all the kind of man likely to committ suicide, but doubtless his temper was soured and his life embettered by the events of the last few days.
