Butter and Cheese Markets.
Messrs N 'Nairn and Co., of Glasgow, under date March 2 report :—
Butter. — During the post fortnight there has been a very good demand at a smart advance on our previous reported values. I'oloaial, despite heavy arrivals, has had a smart clearance, and to.day the market is pretty bare. Danish has had a smart upward turn, but is now quiet at (he advance, buyers all having a little on band, and we should not be surprised to see quotations slightly lower. We are nd vised by our friends in the Colony that we will be receiving butter from there for two or three months yet, on account of the fine season which they have had. This will keep Danish from advancing very far. Irish is scarce and wanted. Cheese. — Cheese market is decidedly firm, with a good business doing at 58s tor finest September logereolla. New Zealanda are now m fairly good demand on accouut of the advance in Scotch and are taking well at 37s to qßs. So far the quality has not been perfection.
