The Prohibition Vote at the Licensing Elections.
(PEB PHESS 'ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, April 19. Figures supplied by tbe Secretary of tb« New Zealand Alliance to day with reference to the Tesult of the licensing elections throughout the colony show that close on half the electors in tbe Colony recorded their votes on the local option question The actual voting figures for very nearly the whole of the colony are as follows : — For tlje continuance of publicans' licenses, 37,156 votes; for reduction of publicans' licenses, 14,588 votes; fur abolition of all licenses, 46,414 votes. In the above figures informal ' . votes are not included. The total efc feciual prohibition vote at the election it is assert ad, was not far short of 50,000 out of an adult population of say 250,000 eligible voters.
