BOROUGH LIGHTING.

The question of lighting the Borough by either gas or electricity has, we are glad to say, excited some discussion, and we have no doubt but that the interest in it will deepen in course of time, as the necessity becomes more apparent. We are not yet aware whether the Councillors will take any immediate action of their own motion, or will prefer to wait for pressure from without to exercise its influence over them. Be that as it may, we fully recognise the benefits of free and open discussion on the subject, and we invite correspondents to give their views and opinions thereon. The first thing to decide is whether the Borough shall be lighted at all ; and, if in the affirmative, whether by gas or electricity.
