Bunnythorpe Small Farm Association No. 1.
A numerously attended meeting of the. above was held in the Public Hall, Bunnythorpe, on Saturday evening. Ih the unavoidable absence of Mr Eiigar, Chairman of the Association, Mrß. Treuiewan was elected Chairman. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman then referred to the forming of a new committee. So long a time had elapsed since the last meeting had taken place that the members of the committee then elected had become so scattered that he thought it would be better to elect a new committee. The Chairman stated that about 47,000 acres on the west side of the Rangitikei river had passed through the Land Court. Mr Hansen : How many acres has this Association applied for '? The Chairman : 10,000 acres. Proposed by Mr George Hanson, seconded by Mr Julius Anderson and carried, That the Bunnythorpe Association send in an application for a portion of the 47,000 acres passed through the Land Court. Mr T. Rollings pointed out that living so far as the members did from the seat of government it would be necessary for the Association to be both active and alert, and leave no stone unturned to get the land required, as he believed there were many applications for this block. j The Chairman : Suppose wo sent tt I deputation to the authorities. Mr Rowlings thought that rather too expensive, but he thought a letter would answer the purpose. Proposed by Mr Hansen, seconded by Mr Nissen, and carried, That a standing committee be appointed. Proposed by Mr A. Dick, seconded by Mr C. Nissen, That the resignation of the old committee be accepted — Carried. At this stage the chairman of the Association entered the room and Mr Tremewan vacated the chair to Mr Eager, who said he understood there wore about 3d applications for land on the Awarua Block, and no doubt that Association which had depoaited its survey foes would stand a very good chance. A ballot being taken, the following gentlemen were elected to act with the officers of the Association as a stand ing committee : — Messrs Nissen, Kowling, Julius, Anderson and G. Ran6on. Resolved, That the secretary be instructed to send post cards to absent members reminding them of the subscription of 5s now due for survey fees and to request payment within four weeks from date. The public meeting concluded with the usual vote of thanks. A meeting of the new committee was theu held, Mr Eagar chairman. Resolved, That this committee meet again this day month (four weeks ( RcBO ved, That the secretary write to Minister of Crown Lands as requested by member?. The meeting then adjourned. During the evening a large number of members paid up their subscriptions and many new members joiued. — Palnierston Times.
