♦ j_PEB PBE3S LSSQCUTIOX,' Lyttelton, April 11. James Patterson, in charge of a pleasure resort at Diamond Harbour, Lyttelton, was fined the maximum penalty o£ .£SO and costs for selling liquor without a license. On two other charges he was convicted and fined Is and costs. Dvvedin. April 11. At Balclutha to-day, William Guest and his wife were charged with selling drink without a license. It appeared that a man named Anderson called at Guest's store and ordered whiskey to be sent to his house with goods. He was told that they did not keep whiskey in atock, but the liquor was subsequently purchased and sent with the goods, the bill being made out in Guest's name. The S.M. reserved his decision.
