BOTH LEGS AMPUTATED.

(PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Wanganui, April 11. At Fordell to-night Harry Laing, the well-known prize-fighter, attempted to alight from a train whilst in motion. He fell, and getting under the train, had both of his legs cut off. The train pulled up at the bottom of Fordell Hill, and went back and brought Laing into Wanganui. He was at once taken to the hospital. Drs Earle, i Connolly and Bell were in attendance, and Laing was at once given chloroform and his left leg was amputated above the knee. This being done, he ■was again given chloroform for a similar operation to his -right leg. Those present stated tfeat the poor fellow showed a great deal of fortitude and bore the pain of his fearful injuries in a most heroic manner.
