Sporting News.

Our sporting contributor, " Sport," was very successful in his tips for the Marton Races. Out of four races he tipped the winners of three, and the horse for the fourth did not start. A feature of the Marton races yesterday wan the very small dividends paid, the largest of which was £3 Bs. The holder of a ticket on every winner would only have cleared £8 2s. This should go very near a record. The party behind Leo, who won the hack race at the recent Marlborough races, are reported to have made a good haul. They had the only ticket in the machine on the horse, getting £88 15s, and had besides £20 invested with the tote shops in Wellington, which brought them buck £300. The Awahuri stable had some welldeserved luck yesterday, At Marton Tenby bad a first and a second, while at Nelson Musket won the Cup, and Oaklands was to the fore in the Hurdles. Acceptances for the Foxton races next Wednesday close to-day.
