Wanganui Supreme Court
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wanganpi, April 10. The Criminal Session of the Supreme Court was opened by His Elon. Chief Justice. The calendar sa very light one. True bills were iound against Wm. Brighting, horse itealing ; Mary Ann Goldsmith, forging and uttering; John Alexmder Angus, three indictments— iorse stealing, larceny of a saddle, md larceny of a watch and chain. Wm. Brighting pleaded guilty on a jharge of horse stealing. Mary Ann Soldsmith pleaded guilty on a charge )f uttering and forging and was allowed on probation for 12 months., John A. Angus, alias Stewart, pleaded not guilty in all three cases, but in sach case was found guilty. ThisDay. A. Hickford was much affected during bhe evidence of Miss London. A sen-' iible, womanly letter from that lady, addressed to the prisoner on Christmas Eve was put in. It transpired that he is subject to fits, and has been .erratic in bis behaviour since having la grippe. At the luncheon adjournment the case for the prosecution had concluded on the first charge. The other charges will probably occupy the whole day.
