London, April 5. j Sir Charles Tapper, Sir Thomas Me- j Uwraith, Mr Reid, and the Agents General, with the exception of those of South Australia and Western Australia had an interview with the Marquis of Itipon, Lord Bosebery also being present. Sir Charles"Tupper aaked that the Imperial Government should grant a snbsidy to Mr Huddart's new steamship line and the Pacific cable, and also urged and extension of the Act of 1873 enabling all colonies to concede preferential relations with each other. Lord Ripon said the Governmen! would have to be very cautious in coming to a decision in regard to subsidies, and they must await the result of the Ottawa Conference, at which Great Britain would be represented.
