The Fielding Star. Published Daily. THURSDAY, APRIL 5, 1894. COST OF LICENSING ELECTIONS.
» Sojik few days ago we mentioned that there was likely to be difficulties raised between the .Returning Officers and the Local Bodies on the subject of the costs of the Licensing Elections, but we are glad to learn that the Premier has intimated his intention to prevent any further trouble on that ground. We are informed that a deputation waited on Mr Seddon at Taurauga on the subject, and the Premier infoimed them that " if the Local Bodies were put to additional expense it was only fair that the Government should recoup them out of the Colonial funds." As this is such plain common sense and justice, we do not anticipate that there will be any opposition in the House to passing with the Estimates a sum of money to be devoted to this purpose.
