An Interesting Point.

(PBB PBKBB ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, April i. In Banco, Wm. Knott, hotelkeeper, of Mosgiel, appealed against Mr Carow's decision in fining him for supplying drink on Sunday. The appellant maintained the Magistrate was incorrect, in finding the person so supplied was not a bona fide lodger. The person referred to had engaged a room foT a week. After two days he left the hotel and slept elsewhere, leaving his clothes at the hotel. Appellant maintained that having a room constituted lodpership, irrespective of actual domicile. In argument it appeared thoro were no cases in the New Zealand Statutes defining lodger. The Judge intimated that he was not prepared to support appellant's view, but he would look into the matter further.
