* As the children were disappointed in their Christmas holiday picnic it was determined to make up for it to them at Easter. Accordingly the School Committee made all necessary arrangements for Wednesday last. The weather was delightful. The members of the Committee rolled up at about nine o'clock in the forenoon to fix up things. The tables were placed on the Reserve, near tbe school ground, and at noon, grace having been sung, the youngsters sailed into the good things provided in valiant style. There were about forty of them present. Tbe amount collected among the parents and friends was £8, which sum was expended in the purchase of suitable presents, too numerous to mention, which were given out by the members of the Committee. A special prize for boys was given by Mr Pirani, M.H.R., and another for girls Dy Mr Haybittle, of Palnierston North. Che voting was taken among the ■ scholars, and Master G.
