The marriage service was being couducted by tlie Rev W C Waters, and all went well until the clergyman asked the lady whether she would take the man at her side as her wedded husband " to have and to hold " &c , &c To the surprise of all present the bride-elect briefly but distinctly said " No." Thinking there must be some misunderstanding, Mr Waters went again over the few previous sentences of thn service, and again came the refusal, short and sharp. The lady's father nudged her, and urged, " But you must say, 'I will'" She wadetermiwed, however, and " No," was her venly, " I wou't ; I won't have him." Thereupon, at the suggestion of the lady'« father, the whole party retired to the vestry, where a short consultation was bold, the result h'-ing that Mr Waters bad to advance to the altar rails and announce that, owing to the indisposition of the bride elect, the marriage had to be postponed for the present. [Wo (Wellington Times) have been requested by Mr Harry Edmonds to state that the marriage of Mr Herbert Edmonds and Miss H. J. Hare, tho two parties concerned in the affair, had to be j postponed, owing to the sudden serious indisposition of the bride, and that the I wedding ceremony will take place to-day I at St. Peter's Church.]
