Destructive Flood at Nelson.

[PBB PBBB3 ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, March 20. A telegram from Takaka, Nelson, states that the most serious flood which has ever happened in the Golden Bay district took place on Saturday. Grave damage was done to the hop crop, the water being in all the hop kilns. The number of sheep drowned is large, and heavyjdamage has been done to the roads throughout the district. The Takaka tramway was carried away. The flood altered the course of the river, protective dams were wash© I away, a large area of land was carried aWay, and telegraphic communication was only restored to* day.
