The Frenchman Gallen, .1 leading Anarchist, who was arrested in London at the instance of the French Premier after an attempt to blow up the Greenwich observatory last month, has been discharged. Paris, March 16 A bomb was exploded «at the entrance of the Church of La Madelaine in the city. The author of tbe outrage was killed instantly, his body being terribly mutilated. On the remains being searched, a copy of a photograph of Ravachol, the Anarchist leader executed some time ago, was found in one of his pockets. The police authorities believe that the explosiou was premature, and that the bomb was intended to do its deadly work during the progress of the service. The remains of the author of the outrage have been identified aa those of an Anarchist named Pauwels, who was employed at the chemical factory of Paul Fochiss. The missile was found to be composed of a chloride and some long nails. Eye-wituesses of the affair 6tate that Pauwels had placed the bomb in position, but in trying to escape he accidentally kicked it, causing it to explode. The whole mass of nails lodged in the man's stomach, for he was so close to the bomb that they had not time to scatter. Otherwise more people would probably have been killed. Three men have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the outrage. The police raided an Anarchist club which has its premises in tho vicinity of tho defunct Autonomic Club. A numher of pap'-rs were seized, and all the membeis found on tho premises were searched
