A correspondent wants to know whether at the Licensing elections he may rote for one or more candidates provided he does not leave more names uncancelled on the ballot paper than the number required by the Act, viz., eight. It is provided in Clause 104 of the Electoral Act, 1893, that: " Every voter for the district may vote for any number of candidates at an election not exceeding the number of candidates then to be returned for the district, but may not give more than one yote to each of such candidates. Every ballot paper recording more than the legal number of votes at any election shall be rejected at tho close of the poll." _______________
