Mr Matthew Henry reports: — At the Male oi Mr Eraser's thoroughbreds yesterday, at Palmerston, there was a large attendance, but a dull sale has to be reported. The first to enter the ring was a yearling colt hy Natator—Speculation, which commanded special admiration. Started at 50 guineas he rau up to 95 guineas, at which price he was passed in. The next on offer was a chestnut yearling by Ascot — Laurel, which fell to the bid of 35 guineas. For the remainder of this and other entries the bidding vas slow in the extreme, a few finding purchasers at 8 to 9 guineas. For general hacks trade was on a par with thoroughbreds. The following are some of the prices at which sales were e (lected:— 2 to 3-year colts, £8 10s to £9; harness horse, £7 sa; draught mave. £H ; undersized hacks and ponies, £4 10s to £8 ; 1 pair ponies, .£lO. Messrs Freeman R. Jnckson and Co' report on their Johnsonville sale as follow* : — We had a full complement of fat cattle and a large entry of sheep fir the sale Cattle sold at lasi sale's value. Sheep were woll competed for, with no alteration in prices. Nopigs were penned. Cattlo— Best bullocks, £7 los to £8 ; others. £7 Is to £7 12s 6d ; smaller cattle, £6 12s fid to £6 15s, equal to 18s the 1001 b. Sheep— Wethers, 10s 6d to Ils 2d ; owes, 8s Gd to 10s ; store ewes, 4s 6d to 7s 6d ; store lambs, 3s to 4s 6d ; fat lambj, 6s to 7s.
