Volunteer Items.
The Manchester Kifles had a very successful parade on Thursday night. The following is an extract from the District Order issued by Lieut. Col. Newall in connection with the Easter Encampment : — " The Taranaki Rifles will leave New Plymouth by the 4 p.m. train on Thursday the 22nd instant, the Wanganui Naval Artillery, Wanganui Rifles and Garrison Band will leave Wanganui at 11.30., taking up the Taranaki Rifles at Aramoho. The Royal Rangitikei Rifles will joiu this train at 1 am., on Eriday the 23rd, the Manchester Rifles at 2 a.m., and the Falmerston North Rifles at 3 a m., the whole reaching Porirua for breakfast. Corps of all arms proceeding to camp will parade in " drill order " (which will be the only order of dress worn throughout the camp) with great coats and leggings, also haversacks containing knife, fork, spoon, plate and pannikin. The baggage consisting of blankets, waterproof sheets, socks, flannel shirt, towel, soap and brushes will be made up in banderole and labeled." The members of the Manchester Rifles who attend the camp will be insured in the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company, a policy having already been applied for.
