The Rifle Meeting.

Christciiubcii, March 6 The Union Company's Cup, for the .highest aggregate in the Auckland, Christchurch, and Otago matches, was won by Mr Gray, Dunedin Rifle Club, with 205 ; Smith, Dunedin, 203 ; Woodhouse, Christchurch, 198; Howe, Wellington, 197. Last year Howe won the cup with 206, after a tie with Kruse. Following are the chief prize-takers in the Otago match, 300, 500, and 700 yds, seven shots : — Smith, Dunedin, 91, 4-8 ; Howe, Wellington, 89, £6 ; Dodds, Port Chalmers, 88, £5 ; Strachan, Wanganui, 87, France, Karori, 86, and Head, Auckland, 86, £4 each ; Davis, Wairoa, 85, Robinson, Christchurch, 83, and A. Ballinger, Wellington, 83, £'6 each ; Craig, Wanganui, 82, Trooper, Sommerville, Wanganui, 82, Scott, Christchurch, 82, Humphries, Napier, 81, and Burns, Dunedin, 81, £2 each. The final stage is to be decided tomorrow, and the meeting breaks up on Thursday. At the annual meeting of the Aseociation, held to-night, the following Council was elected : — Wanganui, Captain Watt ; Auckland, Lieut. White; Christchurch, Capt. Harman ; Wellington, Lieut. Kirk ; Napier, Mr F. Williams ; Wairarapa, Mr W. E. Bid well ; Marlborough, Lieut. Salmon ; Dunedin, Mr Proudfoot ; Canterbury, Sergt Coleman ; Southland, Mr W. Smith ; Oamaru, Mr Creagh ; Nelson and West Coast, Lieut Stubbs. Jt was resolved tiiat the site for 1896 be left to the annual meeting of 1895 to decide, and that the next meeting be held at Trentbarn, Wellington, the second week in March. Thts Day. The shooting waa fairly good. During the match Corpl. Walker, of the Hon. Reserve Christchurch, was detected using English ammunition and has been suspended.
