The North Otago Daily Times points )ut that there arc several other anomalies in the railway tariff in addition to bhe cheap through rate from Dunedin :omplaiued of by the Harbour Board. For instance, the freight on a ton of jhecse from Oamaru to Port Chalmers is 29s 10d, the distance being 71 miles ; ivhiie the freight of a ton of cheese from llivcrtou to Port Chalmers is only 235, ;hc distance being over 170 miles. Then tgain, the charge from Oamaru to Lj'tsclton (160 mile) is also 235; whilo to srowu the whole fearful aud wonderful itructure of railway tariffs, the rato between Dunedin and Oamaru is 12s 6d.
