The Feilding Star. Published Daily. MONDAY, FEB. 26, 1894. THE BIRMINGHAM CREAMERY.

It is with considerable satisfaction we learn from the report supplied by our correspondent at Birmingham, that the meeting held there on fc*atarday night definitely decided to have a creamery established in that district in connection with the Cheltenham Co operative Dairy Factory. A most capable commiUee was appointed to canvass for votes to be taken up, but their services were not reeded, as, with the exception of about ten, the required number were subscribed for by those present. The creamery will be ready for work in November next, by which time the dairy farmers will be prepared to supply abundance of milk. This evidence of progress of a most substantial character should have a beneficial effect on the prosperity of the whole district, and, At the »a<ne time, tend to keep up the value of dairy stock, while encouraging breeders to produce the very highest class of milch cows. It is worthy of note that while the feed on many of the farms on the lower levels has been parched up during the last few weeks by the intense heat, the pasture in the Kiwitea country extending to, attd beyond, Birmingham has been fresh and greou during the whole of tho season. This in itself speaks volumes iv favor of the land fur the production of stock of ail kinds, more especially dairy cattle. We congratulate the promoters of tho Birmingham Creamery, and feel enfident that not only they, but every settler in the immediate neighbourhood will benefit, both directly and indirectly, by their moit commendable enterprise
