Waituna School.

The "Waituna West school committee met on Saturday last. Present — Messrs J. Guylee (chairman), T. Straw bridge, and H. Jolly (secretary). The meeting was called to hear Mr Strawbridge's report on the bushfelling on the school reserve. It was resolved, That the contractor be informed that as soon as he has complied with the terms of the specifications he will receive payment. The contractor waited on the committee after the meeting and informed the members that he would complete the contract according to specifications on Monday. A conversation was entered into in respect to the erection of a school room. The Secretary said that he had seen Mr Sanson who informed him that it would be fully., eight months before the building fund would be in credit. He believed th.-it the Board would refund any amount the settlers might expend in the erection of a building for school purposes. The settlers in the Sandon Small Farm Settlement were about to erect a building themselves, to be utilised as a school. The chairman thought that a rough building might be erected which could be used for the time being as a school room and afterwards as a shelter shed. He was requested to draw up a rough sketch and give an estimate of the probable cost of such a building, and in the meantime the committee were to keep the object in view.
