Apiti Notes.

OUK OWN CUBBK3POJJDEKT-3 A meeting of the trustees of the Wesleyun Church here was held on the 13th instant, for the purpose of opening tenders for the erection of the new church, when that of Mr A. M. Buckinan was accepted. It was decided to make a commencement with, the erectjpn of the npw bujidjng as soon as possible, and to ask Mr Car thew (Mayor of Feilding), and Messrs Jones and Perry, of Kiwitea, to assist in placing the first piles of the building in position, which will probably be done on Good Friday. It was resolved that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded Messrs Kirton and Curtis for their donation of the advertising in the Stab, calling tenders for the building. Most of the settlers have taken advantage bf the fine weather which we have been having for the past fortnight and burnt their bush. There have been some good " burns," but the majority, I am sorry to say, are not very good.
