Volunteer Items.
A meeting of the Shooting Committee of the Manchester Rifles was held at Light's Hotel last evening. Present — Lieut. Burlace (in the chair), Sergt. Saywell, Vol. Wilson, a«d the Secretary. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Sergt. Saywell proposed, and Vol. Wilson seconded, That a deputation wait on the Finance Committee asking for a grant of £7 to help in erecting a cover for the canvas targets etc., the deputation to consist of Sergt. Saywell, Vol. Wilson, and the Secretary, and to report at a meeting to be held at au early date. — Carried. Proposed by Lieut. Burlace, seconded by Vol. Card, That Dr Charlton's guinea prize be fired for by the remainder of B. Class. — Carried. Proposed by Lieut. Burlace, seconded by Vol. Wilson, That Lieut. Bray be appointed handicapper for the Ladies' Bracelet competitions. — Carried. After some further discussion re the best means of covering the targets, etc., the meeting adjourned with the U6ual vote to the chairman.
