Destructive Fires.
(per press association. ") Auckland, This Day. The conservatory and seed warehouse building of C. T. Wren, nurseryman, at Retuuera, were burned down yesterday. There was only an insurance of .£SO in the Phoenix. The loss is estimated at J-1000 over the insurance. The theory of the origin of the fire is the action of the sun's rays on the glass roofing setting fire to the contents underneath Pahiatua, This Day. The Pahiatua Union Hotel was totally destroyed by fire at three o'clock ou Sunday morning. Nothing was saved, and several of the inmates were severely scorched when escaping from the building. Tuckey and Son's stables adjoining were -also destroyed but the contents were successfully removed. The Hotel and stableswereownedbyMr Christiansen. The Hotel was occupied by Mr Eastwood. Insurances— Hotel building i'6oo in the South British; furniture A'3oo office unknown; stock ±150 National ; stable £100 South British.
