(PER PBES3 ASSOCIATION,) London, February 7. Wool i.s very firm at last rates. An Adelaide cargo of wheat has been ■sold for '29s per quarter. The shipment of butter by the Arawa sold in Vancouver at an average price of | 14d per Ib. School Inspectors' Conference. (PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION). i Wellington, February 7. i At the School Inspectors' Conference it was decided, after a long discussion, that the science syllabus, as at present issued by the department, remain in operation ; that while the teaching of science should as far as possible be experimental and illustrative, it would be an advantage for revisal and for securing sufficient supervision of the matters taught, to have a suitable set of simple text books in the hands of pupils. It was decided that the use of the term " additional subjects " should be abandoned, and some other term substituted which would properly include any matters worthy of special mention in the examination summary (whether optional subjects or not); for example, comprehension of reading lessons and order and discipline, as observed in the course of examination. It was resolved to recommend that there be one pupil teacher system tor the Colony and one annual examination.
