The farmers are now busy harvesting, and making the most of the time at their disposal, because the receat heavy winds have shaken a considerable quantity of grain to the ground. Splendid returns atn anticipated from the oat crop. Mr G. Merritthasa field where the stalks are in some ? laces six and seven feet in height, 'his promises a heavy yield. On Jast Sunday night, irhile a young man named William Hogg was riding home from church, ho came into collision with a vehicle, the shaft of which bruised .him conaider- ; ably on one of his legs. The night was dark, and the vehicle carried no side-lights, so Mr Hogg was in no way to blame for the accident. Fortunately he was riding at a moderate pace, otherwise the consequences might have been serious.
