Christchurch Education Board.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION). Ciikistcuukcii, January 25. At the Education Board to-day the question of corporal punishment in schools was considered at some length. On the motion of the Hon. W. Montgomery, the following resolution was agreed to : — " That for the future neither cane nor stick be used in the schools ; but a leather strap, one and a half inches broad ; that no pupil be struck on the head or neck ; that corporal punishment be not inflicted on girls over twelve years of age." The Education Board decided to ask the other Boards in the Colony to join ■with it in pointing out to the Government that the vote for building purposes was totally inadequate and urging Parliament to pass a vote of an amount to give sufficient building grants to each Board.
