Waituna Notes.

The Waituna people held their picnip in the school ground on Friday, which was very well attended considering tbe unsettled state of the weather which, probably, prevented a number attending, particularly those who lived at a distance, Mr Wilson, the chairman of the commit* tee, had procured some very suitable books which were given to each child at. tending the school. Both old and young seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. There was an abundance of good things for all, including fruit. To Mr Wilson must be given great credit for the energetic manner in which be looked after the wants of all, and to Miss McDougall, our popular teacher, who seems to have endeared herself to every child attending. In tbe evening the people crowded to tbe Beaconsfleld school to the entertainment got up by the committee for the benefit of the prize fund, a report of which you have already published.
