W H Maitland, J Shapleski, ffandicappers— H S Munro, R Taylor. Starter -Mr R Taylor. Treasurer -Mr W Ish worth. Secretary —Mr Et Mclnty re. ; The anniversary sports of the Druids was held in one of Mr E. Palmer's paddocks at Birmingham yesterday. Captain Edwin, who had favored us with a fortnight's fine weather, broke the spell and just as the attendance began to thicken, at about mid-day, a drizzling rain commenced to fall which continued for the remainder of the day, making it very unpleasant for those who stopped to witness the various contests. The Feilding Band, on arrival at Birmingham played a selection opposite Lowe's Hotel and then marched to the ground, where its strains enlivened the proceedings considerably. The various officials of the sports committee worked hard to get the events off in good time, and amongst the foremost was Mr H. S. Munro, Mr H. Mclntyre, as secretary, and Mr W. Ashworth, as treasurer, assisted by Mr Sandeman and one or two others, were eqnal to the occasion. Mr R. Taylor performed the arduous duties of starter and Mr Jas. Scott acted as timekeeper, but as the instrument for starting was not properly loaded with powder, he was unable to get the exact times and as they would be misleading if published we abstain from doing so. Mr R. Mcßeth and Mr C. Bray (junr) as sisted as judges, Mr E. Bell being judge of the wrestling event. Several other officials worked hard, but we have been unable to ascertain their names.
