The Feilding Star. Published Daily. FRIDAY, JAN. 12, 1894. THE LONGBURN FREEZING WORKS.

The farmers and other settlers in this district will be glad to learn that the Liongburn Freezing Works will be ready in the course of n fortnight, to receive Btock for freezing. We congratulate the shareholders on this, also on the fact that Mrßuick has been reappointed chairman of the Direc tors of the company, because we believe that gentleman to possess all the qualifications necessary for the fulfilment of the very onerous duties attendant on that position. We trust that the stockowners near at hand will give their loyal support to this local institution, first — because it will be to their owh direct advantage and profit to do so, secondly — because the success of the company means the enhancement of the value of every acre of grazing land within a radius of many miles, and thirdly— because every class of trade and industry must benefit indirectly. Tho freezing works in Wanganui have been doin»: good work lately and the 'Mamari' will take a full cargo for London this week. The Herald says: "There are equal to 20,000 carcases of mutton now in the freezing chambers awaiting shipment, and a large number of sheep booked for the next few months, during which the output will average fully 4000 per week for some time. This will relieve the congested state of the fat sheep market and keep local values steady. The Wanganui Meat Freezing Company in this respect has proved a boon to sheepowners on this coast, and should be generously supported by those for whom it has done so much, but who in many instances have not as yet taken up any of its shares, of which a few still remain unallotted.
