Wreck of a Wool Ship at Chatham Islands.
ALL HANDS SAVED.— THE CARGO BEING DISCHARGED. (PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION! Wellington, Tins Day. Information has been received by the Marine Department that the ship Jessie Redman, which left Napier on December 22nd for London, has been stranded on the Chatham Islands. All hands saved. A telegram from Lyttelton states the Jessie Fed man was apparently uninjured, and was making very little ■water. The cargo is being discharged. Chbistchubch, This Day. The s.s. Kahu, from the Chatham Islands, brought news of the stranding of the Jessie Redman to Lyttletou last night. The vessel was in commaucl of Captain Burton, aud had a full cargo of wool, valu3d at £60,000, shipped by Murray, Roberts & Co. On December 23rd she experienced thick dirty weather, aud took ground at dead high water. The wool is being taken off the vessel by means of a. wire rope, and stored on the Island The vessel may possibly be got off after all her cargo is out. The Kahu leaves Lyttelton to-night, with gear to attempt to float the vessel.
