Pahiatua, This Day. At the races yesterday, 1500 were present. Mortgage won the J.C. Handicap, paying a dividend of £3 9s. Merry - nian won the Flying and Trial Handicaps, paying £6 2s and £8 10s respectively. Makomako won the Stewards Stakes, paying Ml 10s ; Spraydon won the High Weight Handicap and Hurdles, paying XI 17» ttUd XI 16s.
