THE Public Trust Office of New Zealand is a Government institution to afford, at low rates Of Commission, v sccuru und convenient recourse for those who, desirous of tunning trusts in tho colony, cannot satisfactorily uppojtit private trustees or executors, ntu'l for lieiboiiß unable or unwilling to undortake or i-ontinuo the ailministrution of tho trusts aocei'toii by or imposed ui>on thum. The Public Trust Office, constituted l>y "The l'ublic Trust Ollico Act, 1872," baa been since much enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing requirements. The Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from Investments at the discretion of tiio J'ublic Trustoo, and insures the regular payment of tho interest. The Security and Fidelity of tho Pub. lie Trustee's administration must be considered of the utmost importance to every person contemplating the appointment of a trustee. Tho colony guarantees the fidelity ot tho administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at the option of tho l'ublic Trustee. The Colony Guarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of the properties placed in tho l'ublic Trust Office, a common rato of interest, to bo paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. Tho value of this guarantee is in the Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or Insufficient securities, and again.st loss from delay in investment,, and for tho regular and punctual payment of the intorest, free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. In the appointment of Trustoes there must always be SerJOUS concern as to the security of the capital funds; aud the larger tho capital funds tho greater must be the concern for security, and the less for a high rato of interest. The Public Trustee cannot die, cannot loavo the colony, cannot become dia(jualilled, or involved in private difttcultiea; aud cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absenoe render necessary numerous and c.xponsiT* deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, the offiM solicitor's advice without expense to tb« estates. lly all who know or have experienced tho contingencies of private trusteeships tueM advantages must bo appreciated.
