Longburn Freezing Company.

An extraordinary general meeting of the Longburn Freezing Company was held in the Theatre Royal, Palmerston North, yesterday afternoon, Mr D. Buick in the chair. There were, twenty shareholders present. Mr Buick proposed, " That the sum of £2 per share be written off each original subscribed fully paid up share in the company, which shares amount to 4,129 shares, thus reducing the amount of such shares from £o to £3 each, and reducing the nominal capital of the company from £45,000 to £36,742." Mr Buick said it was no use disguising the fact that the money had been lost owing to the high price given for stock. It would be far better for the original shareholders to lose £2 than £5, which would be the case if the company were compelled to go iuto liquidation. The resolution, which was seconded by Mr Beale, and carried, will be confirmed at a meeting to be ~ held on Saturday week. — Standard.
