THE Public Trust Office of New Zealand is a Government institution to afford, ftt low rates Of commission, a secure umi convenieut recourse for those who, desirous of forming trusts in tlie colony, cannot satisfactorily appoint private trustees or executors, ntxl for 1 pcibons unublo or unwilling to undeitiiko or continue tho atlu_nistratii>n of the trusts accepted hy or imposed upon theiu. The Public Trust Office, constituted by "Tlio Public Trust Oflico Act, 3872." has been Bince much enliuyed in itti functions by ameuditif* Acts, to meet growing requirements. Tho Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from investments at the discretion of tlio l'ublic Trustee, and insures tho regular payment of tho interest. The Security and Fidelity of the Public Trustee's administration must bo considered of tho utmost importance to every person contemplating tho appointment of a trustee. Tho colony yuarantt-ea the fidelity of the administration, and Cuarantees aISO the Integrity ofthe Capital Funds invested at tho option of tho l'ublic Trustee. The Colony Guarantees also, ou the capital funds arising for investment out of tha properties placed in tho l'ublic Trust Office, _ couimou rate of interest, to be paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The value of this guarantee is in the Cuarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or insufficient securities, and against loss from delay in investment, and for the regular and punctual payment of tbo interest, free of all charges nf th» Public Trust Office, lv the appointment of Trustees there must always be seriOUS concern as to the security of the capital funds; and the larger tbo capital funds tho greater must be the concern for Bocurity, and tbo loss for a high rate of interest. Tho Public Trustee cannot dio, canuot leave the colony, cannot become disqualified, or involved in private difliculties ; and cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absonoe render necessary numerous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, the offloe solicitor's advice without oxpenso to the estates.
