yHE Public Trust Office of New Zealand is a Government institution to afford, at low rates Of Commission, v mcui-u and convoniuut recourse for those who, desirous of forming trusts in tho colony, cannut sutit-fiictorily appoint i>rivate trustees or executors, mid lor , jierboiib unable or unwilling to undertake or I continue the administration of tlio trusts accepted by or imposed unou them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by "Tho l'ublic Trust Ollk-o Act, 1672," lias been since nmch enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing requirements. Tho Amonduieut Act of lkVl facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from investments at tho discretion of tlio Public Trustee, aud insures the regular payment of the interest. The Security and Fidelity of \be Pub. lie Trustee's administration must bo considered of tlio utmost importance to ovory person contemplating tho appointment of a trustee. Tho colony ijtta ran tecs the fidelity of tho administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds invented at the oiition of tho Public Truetoe. Thu Colony Guarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of the properties placed in the Public Trust Oflice, a common rate of interest, to bo paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The valuo of this punrnntee is in tho Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or liisutßciont securities, and against loss from dolay in invostuieut, and for tho regular and punctual payment of tho intercut, free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. In tho ivppointuiont of Trustees there mu.=t alwayß be SeriOUS concern as to the security of the capital funds ; and tho larger the capital funds tho greater must bo the concern for security, and tho less for a high rate of interest. The Public Trustee cannot die, niDiiot leave tho colony, cauuot become disqualified, or invohed in private difficulties; and cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absence render necessary numerous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, \vh icli lias, besides, tho olfi«« solicitor's advice without expense to the estates. 15y all who know or have experienced tho contingencies of private trusteeships the«« advantages must be appreciated.
