(PEB PEEBS ASSOCIATION.) Chbistchubch, January 1. The funeral of the late Bishop Harper took place to-day. The ceremony was conducted by Bishop Julius and Archdeacon Cholmondelef. Wellington, December 30. Dunug the present yenr 3502 civil summonses have been takon out in the Wellington Magistrate's Court, and the amount for which judgment has been recovered is £17,352 16s 9d, nearly £4000 moro than last year. Pouting, survivor of the Alert disaster on the Vidtorian Coast, was formerly in the service of the Union Steam Company and for some time was second cook on the B.s. Mararoa. He was known here to be a good swimmer, and used to boast that he could swim two miles with ease, During 1893, the number of bankruptcies in the city and suburbs was fifty -four as against forty. six for the previous year. Auckland, December 30. The Herald's Thames mining corres* pondeut states that the total product of gold bullion is estimated at £203.000 being £103,000 from the Thames and £103,000 from country mines. Thia is independent of the Coromacdel mines.
